Abstract

Relevance: This article aims to analyze how this technique has evolved, how it affects corneal morphology, and therefore values such as contrast sensitivity, aberrations, and accommodation. It also discusses the effectiveness for myopia control and potential complications that may arise.

Summary: Orthokeratology is a practice approved by the FDA, which states that "Orthokeratology is an RGP lens that temporarily changes the curvature of the cornea, improving the eye's ability to see objects." In orthokeratology (ortho-k), as the above definition mentions, an RGP lens is used. Each laboratory has one or more models of this type of CL, depending on the initial corneal morphology. There are models for corneas with moderate myopia, high myopia, for astigmatism, and for corneas operated on for myopia.
